About Mrs. Philp:
I grew up in Milford, Michigan where I participated in any musical activity that I could! I played clarinet in marching band, bass clarinet in concert band, sang alto in our high school show choir, as well as take piano lessons. After earning a Bachelors in Music Education from Grand Valley State University, I taught 7-12 choir, band, and music appreciation. One of my passions include Musical Theatre, which inspired me to earn a Masters Degree in Theatre and Community from the University of Michigan in Flint. I absolutely love teaching at Bloomfield Hills Schools.
I Love...
Teaching kids through music, singing, reading, spending time with my family and pets (two cats and two dogs), playing piano, coffee, zumba, musical theatre
Mrs. Philp's Mission Statement
As a music educator I thrive when challenged creatively. My hope for my students is that they can develop as open-minded and reflective people through the medium of music.
I often try new things in the classroom because I am curious about music education and how I can best support my students.
My perfect world is a place where everyone has a voice that can be heard. My perfect world is a place where musicians can work together to create, share, and express musical and personal thoughts and ideas.
